We have teamed with an inspirational local family near Eshowe who have been instrumental in establishing skill centers and refurbishing rural schools for the Zulu community since 1977.

We have been so impressed with their work we are offering our travelers the opportunity to be involved in their unique projects and truly make a difference — while in a safe and fun-filled environment.
Choose a project matched to your skills and interests:
- Refurbish a rural school
- Tutor students after school in math, science, or english
- Help students with computer skills
- Start a community garden
- Work in an AIDS orphanage — tutor the children
- Help rural women learn a marketable skill
We will start in Johannesburg where you will visit downtown Jo'burg, Soweto, and the Apartheid Museum. Then we will wind our way to Kwa Zulu Natal through the lovely countryside visiting some of the small towns along the way — you will get to see rural South Africa up close.
Outdoor class in Eshowe
You will spend 3 weeks volunteering with one long weekend safari. Optional excursions to St. Lucia or Durban will also be available. Spend time in the nearby Zulu villages with the only white Sangoma (traditional Zulu spiritual healer) in Zulu country. Meet the colorful, friendly locals at the infamous George Hotel bar. This will be an unforgettable experience for you — and the people you will meet and help.

Accommodation at a lovely renovated hotel near the center of town. All food and liquor and domestic transportation included in costs.
The trip will end in Durban and travelers will fly from Durban out through Johannesburg back the US.
